Why am experiencing lightheadedness after cataract surgery?
NOV 23, 2014
Question:
I have been lightheaded since cataract surgery a few days ago. Is it normal to feel this way?
Answer:
While it is not normal to remain lightheaded several days after surgery, I would say that it is not particularly unusual. If you received IV sedation during your procedure, that can have a lingering effect, but seldom lasts longer than a day or two. It is also likely you have inflammation related to the recent procedure and that can produce differing symptoms. And finally, a new artificial lens changes your visual perception and can lead to a lightheaded sensation. You should immediately discuss these symptoms with your ophthalmologist.
