Is Reflected Sunlight as Dangerous as Direct Light?
AUG 18, 2014
This may be a stupid question. I was staring at a computer screen and it was very late in the evening, so I could see sunlight beaming on the wall right next to the computer screen, and the thought occurred to me that if staring directly at the sun can cause eye damage then maybe sun rays reflected off the computer screen could also cause eye damage. Is this true?
There are no stupid questions. Fortunately, less than 10 percent of a light source is reflected off a computer screen and sunlight is a diffused light. Looking directly into the sun is much different because the light intensity is much greater. There is no risk from diffuse, reflected sunlight.
