  • Is there any way to remove scarring from AMD?

    Question:

I have wet macular degeneration and have been having anti-VEGF injections. I now am going blind due to scarring. Is there any way to remove the scarring or any trials going on?

    Answer:

Unfortunately, there is no effective treatment for removal of scars associated with progressive macular degeneration. Although most patients with wet macular degeneration benefit from anti-VEGF injections, some progressive loss of vision is common. The cause of this is the continued progression of the disease. Patients who do not receive treatment with anti-VEGF drugs typically have more severe visual loss.
