  • Is Thygeson’s keratitis infectious?

    Question:

My girlfriend has Thygeson’s. Can you tell me if Thygeson’s is infectious and whether you can get it through sexual or other bodily contact?

    Answer:

Thygeson’s keratitis causes tiny round lesions on the outer surface of the cornea (clear window of the eye). Symptoms include light sensitivity, tearing, and feeling as if something is in your eye. Experts have tried to find a cause of this disorder for decades without success. To date, there is no evidence that this disorder is contagious in any manner.
