Pulled Muscle Sensation in Eyeball
JAN 04, 2024
Question:
In the last few days, I've experienced what felt like a sudden pulled muscle in the eyeball. This stops me in my tracks (similar to the feeling I get from a pulled muscle in the leg). I am 66 and have been told by my ophthalmologist (who saw me 3 months ago) that other than dry eyes, I am fine. Do you know what this might be?
Answer:
This may be as simple (and complicated) as a neuralgia affecting an eye muscle or nerve connection—akin to an old fashioned "shooting pain." Unfortunately it is hard to find the source since it is only intermittent. If this continues, please see your ophthalmologist for evaluation.
