  • What do I do about pulsating dots of color in my right eye?

    Question:

I have been experiencing rapidly pulsating dots of color in the bottom right corner of my right eye for about two days. Recently, another dot is occurring also, closer to the center of my vision. They quickly flash from silver or blue to black and appear for a short amount of time, the longest being about 10-15 seconds, and then fade away quickly. I am fairly certain this is not normal. In case it would make a difference in what you'd recommend I do, I will inform you that I am sixteen.

    Answer:

You should begin by having a thorough examination by an ophthalmologist. If it truly is only in one eye, and your retina is normal, it is probably normal. Do not rub your eyes. If it is occurring in both eyes simultaneously, you may need to see a neurologist as well.
