• Is there an eye condition that causes the eye to produce sand-like particles?

    Question:

Is there an eye condition that causes the eye to produce sand-like particles?

    Answer:

Dry eyes would be the most common. Tears have a high salt content and when the liquid or aqueous layer dries out (particularly after sleeping) small granules may be left. Simple over-the-counter tear drops may be the answer.
