Why am I seeing streaks of light after cataract surgery?
JAN 22, 2024
Question:
I just had cataract surgery and when I went outside at night I saw streams or long streaks of light across the outdoor lights everywhere I looked. Can it be corrected and will it go away over time?
Answer:
Our pupils dilate in dim light, and this can cause or increase optical aberrations such as you describe, especially following cataract surgery. Still, there are potential genuine issues associated with these symptoms. You should see your ophthalmologist and have them confirm that the intraocular lens is ideally centered and your eye is in good condition.
