Should I have skin tags removed before cataract surgery?

Question:
Should I have eyelid skin tags (“benign,” or non-cancerous, small growths of the skin) removed before cataract surgery?
Answer:
Please ask your surgeon what her preference may be. In general. the removal of a benign skin tag is not a preoperative requirement. Unless, of course, you have a habit of rubbing your eyes in the area of the skin tags, which could cause problems after surgery.
