  • If you have a stye in your eye and it bleeds a little, does that mean it's draining?

    Question:

If you have a stye in your eye and it bleeds a little, does that mean it's draining?

    Answer:

The typical sign of a draining stye is oozing of pus (usually yellow or beige in color). It is not unusual for a small amount of blood to be associated with this, particularly if the patient has been applying pressure on the stye to express the pus out. A large amount of bleeding should be evaluated by an eye specialist.
