What are the best glasses to get for computer eyestrain?
SEP 29, 2020
Question:
What is the best type of glasses (non-prescription) for eyestrain on a computer screen?
Answer:
I do not believe that there is any evidence supporting a need for any specific type of non-prescription glasses for computer use. I see blue blocker spectacles advertised and many patients ask about them. They probably are of benefit for those that sell them. However, if you are having computer eye strain the factors that have been known to help are ergonomically setting up the keyboard, mouse and monitor in a very comfortable way.
Also helpful are adjusting lighting to minimize glare, wearing or updating your prescription eyeglasses, using artificial tears for dry eye, and taking adequate breaks to look away from the screen.
