• Should we be worried that my son's eyelashes are extremely long?

    Question:

My son's eyelashes are extremely long and sometimes they get tangled and he cannot open his eye. This has been an issue for a year or so now and he is only 4. When it happens there is really nothing I can do because he is violently thrashing about and crying. Can anything be done? Sometimes it is 10 minutes or longer before we can get his eyelids apart. It has happened to both eyes also.

    Answer:

With the approval of your doctor and after the doctor demonstrates the technique, you may be able to carefully trim the lashes, with your child's cooperation, with a small sewing scissor.
