  • How soon after cataract surgery can I wear my contacts?

    Question:

How soon after cataract surgery can I wear my contacts?

    Answer:

You can wear a contact in the unoperated eye right away. I ask patients to wait one month in the operated eye, but it usually takes several weeks for a postoperative vision to stabilize, so that delay isn’t a significant issue. In other words it will be weeks before the sight in that eye will be stable enough to even know what the new prescription (if needed) will be. So there won’t be a contact available to insert before the operated eye is healed anyway.
