• Why am I not seeing as well in my glasses versus my contact lenses?

    Question:

I have monovision contact lenses, with the dominant eye set for far vision and the other for near vision. I wear the contacts most of the time but also wear glasses occasionally. Right now, it seems like the eye with the near vision contact lens does not see distance as well when I wear glasses. Do I need to leave my contact lenses out for a while to get the prescription right for glasses?

    Answer:

See your ophthalmologist and have your eyes and the contact lenses checked. If everything is OK, remove the lenses (one week for soft lenses and a month for hard lenses). Then have your ophthalmologist recheck you. You may have some corneal swelling from oxygen deprivation.
