  • Why are my eyelids purple?

    Question:

In the mirror I notice fairly pronounced purplish eyelids. Not the whole eyelid, just at the line of the eyelash area on both eyes, about a millimeter in width. What is the cause of that and how do I fix it?

    Answer:

The purple line may be the marginal vascular arcade viewed through translucent thin eyelid skin. Best to leave it alone. If you’re concerned that something is wrong with your eye, you should be seen by an ophthalmologist for an in-person exam.
