Why is there a clear mucosal film over a portion of my eye after cataract surgery?
JUN 14, 2017
Question:
I'm 70 years old and just recently had cataract surgery in both eyes. One eye is fine but the other has what I would call a clear mucosal film over a portion of my eye. I can wipe it away with my finger but after a few minutes it comes back. I did not have this problem prior to the surgery. Could you please tell me what is going on?
Answer:
There is no way to tell without an exam. This could be a conjunctivitis or a blocked tear duct or something completely different. It is not a symptom of a complication of cataract surgery. Please have your surgeon re-examine your eye.
