Will LASIK help my aniseikonia?
JUL 03, 2016
Question:
I have a very frustrating vision issue—each eye sees things at a profoundly different sizes (aniseikonia). I have been to several eye doctors. Contact lenses do not make a difference. In fact, the big/small thing is apparent even with my glasses off. I find driving disturbing and reading road signs difficult. I have ghosting and a feeling of double vision, especially if I am reading an illuminated sign or the printing is white on black. No one has offered any ideas what to do. Would LASIK help?
Answer:
If contact lenses do not help, it is doubtful that LASIK will correct the problem. I would recommend seeing a cornea specialist to see it there is something in your visual system such as an inherited corneal deformation that may be causing this issue. If your cornea is normal, you will need to visit a retina specialist to see if there is any condition causing retinal deformation.
