Will my astigmatism be different after having cataract surgery?
OCT 12, 2017
Question:
I need cataract surgery. I've been told that I have astigmatism (irregularly shaped cornea) in both the back of my eyes and front of my eyes but that these offset each other which explains why my glasses only have a relatively small astigmatism adjustment of 0.25. Should I anticipate that my astigmatism will be different after IOL implants?
Answer:
You may need a toric lens to correct your astigmatism, since the internal astigmatism created by the lens of your eye (the cataract) will be removed. Please discuss this with your surgeon to see what your options are.
