  • Will Scars From Retinal Tear Surgery Limit Vision?

    Question:

After sealing a retinal tear, will the laser photocuagulation scars on the retina expand over time thereby causing deterioration in the visual field? Or does the scarring remain stable in size or even shrink?

    Answer:

Usually, there is minimal expansion of the laser scar and no effect on the visual field. The exception would be in the case of a large retinal tear.
