With my vision changing so rapidly, how will I choose an intraocular lens after cataract surgery two years from now?
APR 28, 2016
I'm 46. My eyes are changing so rapidly that I'm buying new glasses every year (not small tweaks). Right now I'm 20/400 walking around in 20/300 lenses from last February. I have cataracts and will have surgery in a couple of years. With my eyes not being stable, how do I choose an IOL?
Once you are 20 or over, the changes that occur in your glasses are mostly likely due to changes in the lens of your eye—the very thing that has reduced your vision with cataract at this time. These changes have no bearing on the IOL choice since once the lens is removed (the cataract is the lens), the changing part of your problem will be gone. The IOL choice will be based on other things unique to your eyes and you should ask your ophthalmologist what lenses you can consider.
