Academy, Nevada Ophthalmologists Scrutinize Proposed ‘Narrow Network’ Regulations
The Nevada Academy of Ophthalmology and the Academy are scrutinizing efforts to develop state regulations on narrow networks. Narrow networks are trimmed-down panels of providers that insurance companies offer to enrollees. In response to federal concerns about network adequacy primarily related to the exchange plans under the Affordable Care Act, the National Association of Insurance Commissioners and state leaders are moving to try to keep regulation of insurance plans at the state level.
