Academy Seeks Changes to New Guidance for ASC Short-Steam Sterilization

The Academy pushed back this week on the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services over new guidance the agency released on short-steam sterilization procedures in ambulatory surgery centers. The Academy believes that the new guidance conflicts with current guidelines as well as manufacturer specifications for sterilization by now requiring a longer storage period for newly sterilized surgical instruments.
