AMA Confirms Pandemic’s Effect on Medicare Spending on Ophthalmology
A new American Medical Association (AMA) report reaffirms that Medicare fee schedule spending for ophthalmology services dropped sharply during the first six months of 2020 — 29% less than expected based on pre-pandemic trends. Ophthalmologists experienced the biggest decline when compared with other physician specialties.
