Physician Advocacy Defeats Bid for Optometric Surgery in California

The medical community has scored a major victory for patient safety and quality of surgical eye care. Over the weekend the California State Legislature adjourned the 2013-14 session, without passing a bill that would have expanded optometry’s scope of practice to include scalpel and laser eye surgery, in addition to injections.
