Highlights of the 2017 Orbital Gala Honoring Dr. Hoskins

On Sunday night, the Academy Foundation hosted the 14th annual Orbital Gala at Mardi Gras World. The evening—which included a buffet dinner, dancing, and a silent auction—was a celebration of this year's honoree: H. Dunbar Hoskins Jr., MD.

Event proceeds will benefit the new Hoskins Center IRIS Registry Research Fund, established by Dunbar and Ann Hoskins. This fund will enable researchers to harness the power of the IRIS Registry database to improve patient care.

“The IRIS Registry provides a wonderful opportunity to advance quality of care. We need to train ophthalmologists to extract pearls from the data to broaden our understanding of eye diseases and improve patient care,” said Dr. Hoskins.

Tim Padovese (OMIC) and many gala attendees generously raised their "paddles" during our Fund a Need to contribute to this worthy initiative, bringing in more than $650,000 – including a generous $500,000 pledge from OMIC. To support the fund, visit aao.org/foundation.
