Your Meeting Story: Courtney Kraus
Attendees come to AAO 2015 for many reasons, from clinical updates to job interviews to reunions with classmates and friends. We'll share some of your stories each day throughout the meeting.
Today we talked to Courtney Kraus, MD, who had just run into her former chief resident at Washington University, David Vollman, MD.
Name: Courtney Kraus, MD
Specialty and position: Pediatrics; assistant professor of ophthalmology at Wilmer Eye Institute
Years in practice: 2
Why she became an ophthalmologist: During medical school, Dr. Kraus became interested in pediatrics. She decided to do an ophthalmology elective as part of her training, but didn't anticipate all it would involve. "I get to put stickers on my nose and make up stories about seeing things at the back of my eyes?" By the end of the first day, she knew she wanted to become a pediatric ophthalmologist.
What she read most recently: Aziz Ansari's Modern Romance.
Fun fact: Her favorite place to discuss cases outside of work is during barre class.
