Avoid the Lines Onsite: Register by Oct. 21
Oct. 21 is the last day to register online for AAO 2015 (Nov. 14-17), Subspecialty Day (Nov. 13-14), and AAOE half-day coding meetings (Nov. 14-17). After Oct. 21, you can register onsite at the Sands Expo/Venetian (fees increase). When you register, remember to purchase an Academy Plus course pass and any tickets you need, such as Skills Transfer lab tickets.
Group registration. Group registration is required for groups of 10 or more. Processing fees will be assessed for all changes, and badges will not be mailed in advance.

Spotlight on Cataract Complications: M&M Rounds—Learning From My Mistakes (Spo2). Eighteen cataract experts will each present a video case showing a complication that taught them valuable lessons. Paired panelists will then comment on the cases and the “teaching points.” The audience will weigh in using response pads. The symposium concludes with the 11th annual Charles D. Kelman Lecture, “IOL Power Selection: Think Different,” given by Warren E. Hill, MD. When: 8:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m. Where: Venetian Ballroom EF. Access: Free.
Improving Your Odds in Anterior Segment Surgery (Sym31). Experts discuss the newest advances in cataract surgery, including intraoperative guidance systems, phaco technology, new intraocular lenses, and new surgical techniques. Each talk will be followed by an interactive discussion. When: 2:00-4:00 p.m. Where: Venetian Ballroom EF. Access: Free.
Lessons Learned About New Technologies for Refractive Cataract Surgery (Sym35). Join the discussion about 4 new technologies: extended depth-of-focus IOLs, corneal inlays, trifocals, and toric multifocals. Presenters will address benefits and limitations of each, as well as unexpected outcomes. When: 4:15-5:30 p.m. Where: Venetian Ballroom EF. Access: Free.
Discover: New Surgery Skills
Skills Transfer labs and lectures provide the opportunity to master new diagnostic and surgical techniques. They include intensive training sessions, a hands-on learning environment, and outstanding instructors. Note that a ticket is required for Skills Transfer labs but that lectures are included in the Academy Plus course pass. Attendance at each lab’s accompanying lecture is strongly recommended but not required. Highlights include:
- New! Photo/Video Editing for Ophthalmologists (Lab120). Explore various user-friendly applications and software to edit pictures and surgical/ nonsurgical videos for presentations at conferences. When: Sunday, 2:00-4:00 p.m. Where: Titian 2201. Access: $70 (advance fee); $80 (onsite fee).
- New! Advanced Periorbital Flap and Graft Techniques (Lab148). Expand your ability to perform periorbital reconstruction. Advanced flap and graft techniques will be discussed and then performed on cadaveric models supervised by experienced course instructors. When: Monday, 4:00-5:30 p.m. Where: Titian 2305. Access: $245 (advance fee); $275 (onsite fee).
- Crosslinking (Lec104, Lab104A). Review the history and current uses of crosslinking; gain a better understanding of patient selection criteria; evaluate the merits of the various treatment strategies; develop a protocol for postoperative management of crosslinking; and obtain hands-on experience with several UV light devices and corneal ring segments. When: Sunday, 9:00-10:00 a.m. (recommended lecture), 11:00 a.m.-noon (lab). Where: Lido 3001, Veronese 2403. Access: $100 (advance fee); $130 (onsite fee).

USE THE MOBILE MEETING GUIDE. The Mobile Meeting Guide (MMG) is now available. This web-based application gives you access to a myriad of useful meeting content and can be used on any web-enabled device.
Program. To locate a session, abstract, or course handout, select “Search Program” and use the filter options. If available, handout and evaluation buttons will be visible for each course. The MMG also contains listings for satellite symposia and related group events, as well as refractive surgery e-posters, scientific posters online, videos on demand, and Technology Pavilion and Learning Lounge schedules.
All the info you need in one spot. The MMG houses the meeting directory and important AAO 2015-related information on exhibitors, convention floor plans, special event schedules, hotels and shuttles, and Las Vegas restaurants and weather.
Tips. Save courses and sessions to your Planner, a feature that helps you plan your meeting experience. Sync your calendar created during registration with your Planner, use “Happening Now” to view courses and sessions taking place at that moment, and start or join an interactive networking community.

NEW! Where to Get Ribbons for Milestone Anniversaries
Did you mark your 10th, 20th, or 25th year as a practicing Academy member in 2015? If so, visit the Member Services desk in the Academy Resource Center (Booth 2632) to pick up a personalized certificate and recognition ribbon commemorating your anniversary and long-standing commitment to the Academy.
Limited availability. To get a certificate and ribbon—which will be available only at the annual meeting—you must have reached your 10-, 20-, or 25-year milestone during 2015. Eligibility is based on the number of years you’ve been a practicing member of the Academy (time spent as a candidate for membership, member-in-training, or inactive member does not count).
