You will need an EHR system that is a 2015-edition certified EHR technology (CEHRT). During the 2018 performance year, you could perform PI measures using EHR systems that had either 2014- or 2015-edition certification. In 2019, you must use 2015-edition CEHRT.
Check your EHR system’s certification. To check whether your EHR system is a 2015-edition CEHRT, visit https://chpl.healthit.gov/#/search. (Make a note of your system's CHPL ID#; you will need this when your report PI.)
What if your EHR vendor has upgraded your EHR system, but 2015-edition certification is still pending? CMS recognizes that some vendors may be providing upgraded EHR systems to practices while 2015-edition certification is still pending. If this was the case with your EHR system, you may still be able to satisfy the 2015-edition CEHRT requirement provided:
- your EHR system has 2015-edition functionality for all 90+ days of your PI performance period, and
- CMS grants 2015-edition certification by the last day of that performance period.
No transition measure set this year. Last year, in addition to the PI measure set, CMS offered a PI transition measure set for those clinicians who were using 2014-edition CEHRT. But now that 2015-edition CEHRT is mandatory, the transition measure set has been eliminated.
