THE AMERICAN ACADEMY OF OPHTHALMOLOGY does more than just protect sight — we enable people to see and experience the vibrant world around them. But we don’t do it alone. Over the past 37 years, the Academy Foundation has raised critical funds to help launch some of the most innovative educational, quality-of-care and service programs in all of medicine. • The Ophthalmic News and Education (ONE^®) Network helped a doctor restore a patient's vision from legally-blind to 20/20;
• The IRIS^® Registry (Intelligent Research in Sight) saved Academy members $95 million and resulted in higher patient satisfaction;
• Our global outreach programs are providing unique opportunities to ophthalmologists and benefiting their patients throughout the world;
• An EyeCare America^® volunteer saved a patient’s life with early intervention; and
• The Museum of Vision^® is helping children achieve their state and national common core science standards.
