3rd Annual Global Video Contest
Cataract/Anterior Segment, Retina/Vitreous
Severe ocular trauma often presents a challenge for retinal surgeons. In this clinical video, a 74-year-old patient with severe blunt ocular trauma presents with a large iridodialysis, posterior lens dislocation and vitreous hemorrhage with an intact retina. Dr. Laurent Velasque performs a triple procedure of phaco vitrectomy, sutureless intrascleral IOL fixation, and iridoplasty under peribulbar anesthesia. One week after surgery, visual acuity is 20/50, the cornea is clear, the IOL is well centered and the retina remains flat.
