    The National Eye Institute has awarded researchers from the University of Alabama at Birmingham a $1.125 million grant to study the biomechanics of the eye and its role in glaucoma.

    Christopher A. Girkin, MD, and J. Crawford Downs, Ph.D. will examine whether age- and race-related differences in optic nerve head biomechanics contribute to glaucoma risk.
