Iridex Corporation announced a 23.5 percent increase in net income, to $415,000, for the second quarter of 2013 compared to the same quarter last year. The company also announced a slight increase in revenues for the quarter, to $9.2 million.

"Sales of both consumable products and systems continued to be strong in the second quarter, including solid contributions from our licensing and distribution partner and from the Peregrine distribution agreement announced in April,” President and CEO Will Moore said. “The repositioned Iridex is now thinking and executing like a commercial organization and the benefits of that orientation are becoming clear in the financial results."

Iridex reported $1.29 million in net income for the first half of this year, down from $1.94 million in the first six months of 2012. Total revenue for the six-month period was $18.15 million, compared to $16.75 million in 2012.
