  • Bausch & Lomb of Rochester, N.Y., announced that its Victus femtosecond laser platform received the European CE mark for the creation of corneal incisions in patients undergoing cataract surgery.

It was also granted approval for penetrating keratoplasty and for creating intrastromal channel incisions for intracorneal ring segments.

The product already has the CE mark for other steps of laser-assisted cataract surgery, including capsulotomy, lens fragmentation and corneal incisions, and for the creation of flaps and arcuate corneal incisions.

The Victus platform first earned a CE mark in November 2011, followed by clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in July 2012.
