Ziemer Ophthalmic Systems has received CE Mark approval for its Femto LDV Z8 femtosecond laser.

It is approved for clear corneal and arcuate incisions, capsulotomy, lens fragmentation, and previously covered corneal and presbyopia indications.

The roll-out of the low-energy mobile laser system is slated to begin in conjunction with an education program for femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery.

The device features Adaptive Pulse Management technology, optical coherence tomography and a liquid patient interface.

A liquid patient interface for cataract indications supports laser transmission and minimizes surgery-related increases in IOP.

Cataract procedures performed with the Femto LDV Z2, Z4, Z6 and Z8 platforms are not approved in the United States and some other countries, the release said.
