Dermoid cyst in a child observed during a mission to São Tomé e Príncipe, project "Saúde para Todos" (Health for Everyone), from Marquês de Valle Flôr Institute. Dermoid cysts are frequent benign tumors of a cystic nature that often contain hair follicles, skin and sweat glands. When periocular, they are often localized near the lateral aspect of the eyebrow. If medial, other lesions such as encephalocele must be included in the differential diagnosis. Since the cyst was disturbing the child and parents, we decided to surgically excise it. It is important, when doing so, to avoid rupturing the cyst, as an inflammatory reaction may occur. Also, if incompletely removed, recurrences are also possible.
