Examples of squamous cell carcinoma of conjunctiva. a. Typical squamous cell carcinoma consisting of cells with abundant pink cytoplasm. b. Mucoepidermoid carcinoma has a similar appearance, but paler cells contain cytoplasmic mucin, demonstrated in upper inset with a periodic acid Schiff stain after diastase digestion. c. Spindle cell squamous cell carcinoma with elongated cells, similar to sarcoma.
