    Subfoveal neovascularization in AMD. (A) Right eye of patient shows neovascularization surrounded by ring of blood. This lesion was not treated. (B) Left eye shows only a widespread drusen at this time. (C) Same left eye several years later. Parafoveal choroidal neovascularization has developed. (D) Same left eye 1 month after unsuccessful laser photocoagulation. Area of neovascularization is much larger and now occupies fovea. Blood and fluid are present under sensory retina also.
