    Cataract/Anterior Segment

Sutured, iris-fixated intraocular lens (IOL). a. A foldable IOL is implanted with its optic captured anterior to the iris and haptics positioned under the iris. b. A 9-0 or 10-0 polypropylene suture on a long, curved needle is passed through the mid-peripheral iris under the haptic and out again. c. Each haptic is thus sutured to mid-peripheral iris using a modified Siepser knot or a McCannel technique. d. Once the haptics are sutured, the optic is placed below the iris.
