Balancing a Medical and Surgical Approach to Glaucoma

Dr. Ronald Fellman provides an overview of approaches to managing glaucoma and how they have changed over time. Historically, first-line treatment was topical therapies such as drops, but now laser surgery is another option for primary therapy. With the LIGHT trials and other new information, offering laser has become more common for early to moderate glaucoma, especially with the challenges of medication adherence. Dr. Fellman calls this a paradigm shift in his own practice, and many other glaucoma surgeons are opting for first-line surgical procedures  due to their improved safety.
