    Cystoid Macular Edema After Cataract Surgery: IRIS Registry Analysis

    Dr. Mustafa Iftikhar discusses risk factors for cystoid macular edema (CME) following cataract surgery. He used the IRIS registry to identify patients, based on diagnostic and procedure codes, who developed CME within the first 3 postoperative months. The risk factors associated with poor visual outcome, defined as worse than 20/40, included older age, Hispanic or Black ethnicity or race, and preexisting retinal comorbidities.
