In this interview from AAO 2020 Virtual, Dr. Michael Repka discusses highlights from the 2020 Jackson Memorial Lecture, Amblyopia Outcomes through Clinical Trials and Practice Measurement: Room for Improvement. His lecture draws upon amblyopia research from PEDIG trials going back to 1997, and explores contemporary clinical practice with data on 1.7 million amblyopic patients in the IRIS Registry. He believes clinical trials and registry outcome measures can be used to illuminate the gaps between the ideal treatment scenario and real-world practice and, more importantly, to achieve better visual outcomes for children with amblyopia.
