Nystagmus , Pediatric Ophth/Strabismus
In this interview from AAO 2020 Virtual, Dr. Sean Donahue discusses highlights from the 2020 Leonard Apt Lecture, Surgical Management of Infantile Nystagmus. The differential diagnosis and management of patients with infantile nystagmus syndrome can be perplexing, he explains. All patients with infantile nystagmus must have the integrity of their afferent visual system confirmed, either through direct examination, neuroimaging or genetic testing. Surgery should be used to eliminate abnormal head positioning to achieve a null position and to reduce any coexisting strabismus.
