In this interview from AGS 2019, Dr. Matt Schlenker shares his experience using the InnFocus MicroShunt (Santen) to manage patients with various stages of glaucoma. The device is made with SIBS [poly(styrene-block-isobutylene-block-styrene], an ultra‐stable polymer that does not induce a foreign body reaction. In the clinical trial, approximately 85% of patients in the standalone shunt group were within the target IOP range. The benefits of using this device, explained Dr. Schlenker, include a regulated flow for minimizing hypotony and a bleb morphology that is posterior and diffuse.
