In this interview from AAO 2015, Dr. David Chang discusses his paper published in Ophthalmology showing the superiority of intracameral antibiotics for endophthalmitis prevention in cataract surgery. The retrospective study included 116,714 mostly manual sutureless small-incision cataract surgeries performed at Madurai Aravind Eye Hospital in India, and found a 4-fold reduction in the infection rate after initiation of intracameral moxifloxacin. The risk of anaphylaxis and the possible application to rest of the world are also discussed.
