Cataract/Anterior Segment, Complications, Retina/Vitreous
In this interview from AAO 2021, Dr. Anton Orlin summarizes the posterior segment sequelae that commonly arise after anterior segment surgeries, including cataract surgery and refractive procedures. Some of these complications include retained lens fragments, endophthalmitis, retinal detachments, cystoid macular edema, progression of diabetic macular edema, and onset of neovascular AMD. Dr. Orlin explains the fundamental principles of a vitreoretinal approach to these complications so that anterior segment surgeons are prepared to manage them and also know when to refer.
