Methotrexate vs. Mycophenolate for Noninfectious Uveitis

In this interview from AAO 2019, Dr. Nisha Acharya presents results from her NEI-funded trial comparing 2 commonly used, steroid-sparing, immunosuppressive drugs as a first-line treatment for noninfectious uveitis. The findings, which were published in the September 2019 issue of JAMA, suggest there is no significant difference in inflammation control between mycophenolate and methotrexate. However, methotrexate was more effective in the subgroup of patients with posterior panuveitis.
