MIGS Considerations in Patients with Diseases of the Cornea

    AAO 2019

    Cornea/External Disease, Glaucoma

In this interview from AAO 2019, Dr. John Berdahl discusses MIGS procedures in patients with corneal diseases. In general, he prefers using devices that bypass the trabecular meshwork in these patients. While concomitant MIGS and endothelial transplants can be safely performed, the dual procedure can carry a risk of hyphema. Dr. Berdahl advises physicians to think about how to prevent a difficult cycle of needing steroids for a failing cornea and having to manage the subsequent increase in eye pressure.
