Dr. John Hovanesian talks about a paper he presented at the 2013 Annual Meeting that shows one-third of sutured cataract wounds leak. Dr. Hovanesian authored a recent study employing a calibrated force gauge in a model evaluating the amount of force a patient's eye may experience during touching, rubbing or forced blinking. He concludes that an ocular sealant may offer a better opportunity to close the entire cataract wound instead of just at the single suture site.
