In this interview from AAO 2016, Dr. Anat Galor reviews the latest diagnostic techniques and treatments for dry eye. She discusses InflammaDry, a single-use assay that can detect elevated levels of the inflammation marker MMP-9 in tear film in 10 minutes, and the recent FDA approval of the eye drop lifitegrast (Xiidra) for the signs and symptoms of dry eye disease. Dr. Galor also addresses the importance of assessing the neuropathic component of dry eye, which she says can be more accurately diagnosed by asking specific questions suggestive of a neuropathic etiology.
