New Imaging Technologies for Retinal Disease

By Judy E. Kim, MD; SriniVas R. Sadda, MD
    Annual Meeting 2012
    Retina/Vitreous

In this interview, Dr. Judy Kim talks with Dr. SriniVas Sadda about the outlook for new modalities for the detection and diagnosis of retinal disease. Dr. Sadda reviews a broad range of emerging technologies such as swept source OCT, OCT angiography, and adaptive optics. The discussion also considers the integration of autofluorescence in the general ophthalmic practice, notably for screening of Plaquenil toxicity. Finally, as file sizes associated with modern imaging technologies multiply, Dr. Sadda offers tips for selecting a management solution to handle the transmission and storage of high-resolution image data.

Financial Disclosures: Dr. Sadda receives consulting or lecture fees from Allergan, Carl Zeiss Meditec, Genentech, Heidelberg Engineering, Optos, Optovue, Regeneron, and Topcon Medical Systems. Dr. Kim receives consulting fees from Heidelberg Engineering.
